KASUR: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, on the last day of his five-year tenure, said the PML-N had served the masses whereas Imran Khan remained busy in lying to the nation.

Speaking to party workers at the inauguration of ‘Shahbaz Sharif Sports Stadium’ on Khaim Karan Road on Thursday, he lauded the project which had been completed at a cost of Rs540 million. It is meant for hockey, football and kabaddi. He said the turf had been imported from Australia.

He said Imran Khan himself gave the name of caretaker chief minister Nasir Mahmood Khosa but later went back on it. “The day is not far when he will give up his 11-point agenda,” he said.

He said that as chief minister of the province, he did everything for the welfare of the people. He said the PML-N government in Punjab had constructed 50 multipurpose gymnasiums, 25 e-libraries and seven hockey stadiums during the last five years.

He also claimed that there was a network of health facilities in the province including south Punjab and added that the standard of these health facilities was not less than those of any developed country.

He said Imran Khan had to follow Metro bus project that he was earlier criticising and it was complete in Punjab while the KP government could not complete any such project during its tenure. He also compared the performance of KP government with that of Punjab in the education sector.

He also criticised former president Asif Ali Zardari saying he did nothing in Sindh during the last five years.

Shahbaz Sharif was scheduled to reach Kasur at 11am but he arrived at 2.30pm.

Local parliamentarians including Malik Ahmed Khan, Malik Rasheed Ahmed, Malik Ahmed Saeed, Rana Ishaq Khan, Sheikh Allauddin and Nadeem Yaqoob Sethi were present. MNA Waseem Akhtar and MPA Naeem Safdar who are under the cloud over anti-judiciary tirade did not turn up.
