THERE are no two opinions that the late Benazir Bhutto was a true daughter of Pakistan. She served the country with diligence as a politician and was way above the petty politics that one witnesses today. It was for this country that she laid down her life. It is sad what her party has become after her death.
It is heart-warming that Ms Bhutto has been honoured through a statue that adorns the Benazir Bhutto Park at Boating Basin. The statute represents the sheer intensity that every person has in the Benazir ideology. Everyone rues the fact that she is no more among us.
I feel that the quality of the statute does not do justice to a great leader. It seems a pathetic attempt at a slapdash copy that has been hastily carved and installed. The larger than life stature of Ms Bhutto is no where apparent from this statute. In fact, the statute does her memory a blatant disservice.
A more professional and taller structure executed in an artistic manner is needed.
