KARACHI: Omega Club and One Unit Club outsmarted their respective rivals in the two semifinals to qualify for the final of the SSB Trophy Ramazan basketball tournament being played here at the Arambagh courts on Saturday.

In the first semifinal, Omega Club edged past Askari Alphas 37-36 after a very tough contest. Tahir naqash (12 points) and Taimur Zaheer (8 points) were the outstanding players for the Omega club. They were ably assisted by Mubasshir Hussain who scored six points.

For Askari Alphas, Zainullah was the pick of the players with 17 points while Syed Bakhtiar and Shameer both scored 11 points each.

In the second semifinal, One Unit Club beat Arambagh Club 48-44 in an exciting match. Talal ahmed with 21 points was architect of One Unit Punjab, Ghazi Sports in night rocball final

Club’s victory and played superbly. He was well assisted by Kashif Suroor (11 points) and Tafsheen Zaidi (6 points).

For Arambagh Club, Rajkumar Lakhwani (12 points) was the leading scorer. He was well assisted by Jahanzaib (10 points) and Fazeel Ahmed (8 points).

The final of the SSB Trophy will be played here on Sunday at 10:30pm. Malik Fayyaz, Chairman DMC south will be the chief guest on the occasion.

The tournament is being jointly organised by Karachi Basketball Association and Pakistan Sports Welfare Association under the auspices of Sindh Sports Board.
