MURREE: A fire broke out in the forest in Samli, near the Murree Expressway on Sunday.

A large number of trees were damaged in the fire, which spread for acres.

Rescue 1122 fire tenders were called by locals but they could not get to the fire since there is no road access in the forest.

Rescue staff and fire fighters also tried to manually put out the fire, Arshad Bhutta, Rescue 1122 media coordinator said.

Locals say fires break out every year in the dry season but no measures have ever been taken to address the issue.
