KARACHI: One Unit Club, in a stunning display, beat Omega Club 42-39 in the final of the SSB Ramazan Trophy Basketball Tournament to lift the title in front of a sizeable crowd here at the Arambagh court on Sunday.

Talal Ahmed (15 points) and Saqlain Zaidi (13 points) were the architects of victory for the One Unit Club and displayed superb game. They were well assisted by Kashif Sarwar (9 points).

For the Omega Club, Aziz Nadeem (15 points), Taimur Zaheer (12 points) and Tahir Naqash (4 points) were the main contributors and played well.

Arambagh Club finished third, Askari Alphas were fourth while Karachi Colts and National Club bagged fifth and sixth positions respectively.

Later, Chairman DMC South Malik Fayyaz who was the chief guest at the final, distributed prizes worth Rs100,000 among the winners and the runner-up besides trophies to the other players.

A special reward of Rs50,000 was given to Referees Association while Man of the Tournament Talal Ahmed and Man of the final Saqlain Zaidi were also given the awards.

Later, in his address, Malik Fayyaz announced the expansion of the Arambagh courts and the installation of new floodlights and assured that DMC South will continue to support the sports activities in the region with all its resources. President Karachi Basketball Association Ghulam Mohammad thanked Malik Fayyaz for gracing the occasion and his all out support for sports.
