MQM’s central leader Haider Abbas Rizvi returned to Pakistan on Wednesday after spending two years in self-imposed exile in Canada.
“Haider Abbas Rizvi was received at Karachi airport by party leaders Amir Khan, Faisal Subzwari and Senator Saif Ali,” party spokesperson Aminul Haq told Dawn.
Soon after his arrival, Rizvi went to the office of MQM's Bahadurabad faction to meet the party leaders.
Responding to a query as to whether Rizvi intended to contest the forthcoming general election, party spokesperson replied by saying "possibly, as he has arrived at election time".
Recently, there were reports circulating on social media that the MQM leader was driving a vehicle for a popular online ride-hailing service in Canada, which attracted much attention in Pakistan.
In January 2016 a judicial magistrate had issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of 10 MQM leaders, including Rizvi, in a case about the misuse of loudspeakers and rioting.

it is unlikely of our politicians to do daily jobs for living after retiring from politics.mostly our leaders stuff their account through corrupt practices during their tenure in Govt service and live their life in ease afterwards.The news of Abbas sab earning via driving is heartening .It shows that despite being a member of parliament he did not involve himself in corrupt practices .Pakistan needs more leaders like him.we welcome abbas sab on his return.

Driving Uber wasn't bad, at least it was hard earned and honest living. Living on Bhatta in Karachi is certainly questionable.

Welcome back to Pakistan, which is your own country and you have every right to do politics. The people of Karachi desperately want, which can be possible through patronization of federal party. MQM politics is based on sectarianism and division, which will not yield any positive change, therefore, you are cordially invited to join the hands of IK to end corruption and poverty in Pakistan.

At least Karachi had a relative peace in his absence now he is back with some instructions from his Supremo of London. So-called MQM -P under Farooq Sattar is just an offshoot of MQM-London. They all are loyal to Altaf Hussain.

Good news for MQM. Now stop playing in the hands of sources that are against the existence of your political party. There is no such thing like Bahadurabad, PIB or London. There is only one MQM and one leader. Work for the betterment of Urban Sindh and Pakistan. Try and clear all the misunderstandings, clear MQM's point of view and vision in all circles. Everything is possible with constructive dialogue. After all the goal for all of us should be "Sab Se Pehle Pakistan"

Almost majority of Pakistani expatriates are engaged in taxi services in Canada. So, Mr. Rizvvi is no exception. If he is some one, he is in Karaci-not in Canada. In Canada a man is known by the skill and ability, not by any political background in his native country.

Haider Rizvi returned from self-exile from Canada. He is one of the few honest politicians in our political jungle. Whether he will be a candidate in elections on July 25? He can't since he was honest admitting to holding dual nationality.
If he is sincere in serving the people of Karachi, he could serve in some other capacity. The Supreme Court had disqualified several MPs for holding dual citizenship, as their loyalties would be questionable. There are highly qualified Pakistanis who can contest the next elections, as they are totally committed to serving Pakistan.
