HARIPUR: The local chapter of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Wednesday announced its candidates for two out of three provincial and one national assembly seats from Haripur district.

The decision was announced after deliberations by members of the election committee of MMA which was convened at the office of Jamaat-i-Islami with Hafiz Mohammad Rehan, the JI district president, in the chair.

Representatives from all the component parties of MMA were in attendance.

According to Ghazan Iqbal Khan, vice president of Haripur district chapter of MMA, the committee had unanimously agreed on allotment of MMA ticket to Hafiz Rehan for NA-17, Haripur, Maulana Fayuz-ur-Rehman Madni for PK-40 and Raja Ghayasuddin Balban for PK-41.

The committee also agreed on fielding a woman candidate on reserved seats on MMA’s ticket from Haripur and kept it open for all the member parties to apply.

Meanwhile, the matter of finalising the name of candidate for PK-42 was kept pending as the Jamaat-i-Islami and JUI-F would propose their names before June 8.
