Bilawal, Aseefa in Naudero to file nomination papers

LARKANA: Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari arrived at Naudero House on Thursday evening to be able to file his nomination papers for NA-200 on Friday.

Sources said that Faryal Talpur, chairperson of PPP women’s wing, and Bibi Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari who were already in Naudero would also file nomination papers.

Ms Faryal would submit papers for PS-12 (Ratodero) and would have to vie with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) Amir Bakhsh Bhutto, son of Sardar Mumtaz Ali Bhutto.

Bibi Aseefa would file papers as covering candidate for her brother Bilawal for NA-200, said the sources.

Khuhro, daughter file papers for PS-11 Larkana City

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh president Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and his daughter Nida Khuhro — a member of the Larkana district council — on Thursday filed their nomination papers for the PS-11 Larkana City seat.

The submitted the papers at the office of returning officer Zafarullah Jakhrani. Nida has filed her papers as her father’s covering candidate, according to party sources.

Speaking to party workers and local reporters, Mr Khuhro said the country was faced with worst-ever situation with regard to water and power. “Amidst such a situation, the issue of Kalabagh dam has unnecessarily been raised,” he observed, and said: “Raising this controversial issue at this juncture tantamount to sprinkling salt on the wounds on Sindh”.

He condemned all those who supported and advocated the project in the past and urged people to reject such forces in the general election.

Mr Khuhro appealed to the apex court, where a petition for the construction of the dam has been submitted, to call in the Indus River System Authority (Irsa) with a view to ensure an equitable distribution of water.

Candidates of MQM-P, MMA, others also file papers

HYDERABAD: Candidates of PPP, PML-N, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) (Bahadurabad), Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan-Noorani (JUP-N) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) submitted nomination forms in Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari and Tando Mohammad Khan on Thursday.

MQM-P (Bahadurabad) leader Kanwar Naveed Jamil, MMA’s Dr Saifur Rehman and PPP general secretary Ali Mohammad Sahito submitted forms for NA-226 Latifabad in Hyderabad.

JUP-N president Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair and Dr Irfan Gul Magsi of PPP submitted nomination forms for NA-227 (Hyderabad city).

Hafiz Tahir Majeed and Dr Saifur Rehman of MMA filed papers for PS-64. PPP Hyderabad city president Saghir Qureshi and PSP provincial general secretary Mir Ateeq Talpur submitted forms for PS-67 while Pasha Qazi of PPP and Samar Jatoi of Sindh Hari Committee filed nomination forms for PS-66.

In Tando Mohammad Khan, former PPP MPA Ejaz Shah and Mir Sajjad Talpur submitted their candidatures for PS-68.

PPP’s Makhdoom Jamiluzzaman and PML-N Sindh president Shah Mohammad Shah filed two candidatures for NA-223 (Matiari), Dr Makhdoom Rafikuzzaman submitted nomination form for PS-59, Makhdoom Mahboobuzzaman and Abdul Razzaq Memon submitted forms for PS-58.

Muhammedmian Soomro may join PTI

SUKKUR: Former caretaker prime minister and Senate chairman Muhammedmian Soomro was expected to contest election for NA-196 (Jacobabad) after joining PTI within a few days, according to sources.

Talks between PTI chief Imran Khan and Mr Soomro had entered final stages and he was likely to announce joining the PTI within days, said the sources.

Zafar Ali Shah joins hands with GDA

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Veteran politician and former deputy speaker of National Assembly, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, and his brother Syed Ali Ahmed Shah announced joining hands with the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) in Darbelo town on Thursday.

Mr Shah made the announcement before media persons after a detailed meeting with former federal minister and central leader of GDA, Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, who visited him at his residence.

He appealed to PTI chief Imran Khan to support the alliance in Sindh in upcoming election as the GDA was the only force capable of ridding people of Sindh of the corrupt PPP.
