The entire Turbat area had a single dam — Merani dam located on the Dasht river 30 miles west of Turbat. It has reached almost zero level because water has been diverted to Gwadar projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Over the last one decade Turbat has become Balochistan’s hottest city, 54ºC recorded as the highest. Thus, to make the ‘Let’s green Turbat’ campaign successful, the people of Turbat must first save water by utilising it as needed. Second, the government should persuade the people about the importance of plantation so that they actively participate for better environment.
