On a serious note, Nawaz Sharif is furious about the top judge's deadline to the accountability court regarding the corruption references filed against him.
"Does the chief justice not know that justice rushed is justice crushed? I do not know whether my right to defence is more important or that the decision be given before the election. Are the standards of law and justice more important or a decision before the elections? Are the fundamental rights of a Pakistani citizen important or a decision before the elections?"" — Nawaz Sharif
Quick background: On Sunday, the Supreme Court granted the accountability court a 30-day extension and deadline to wrap up all three references but also suggested that the hearings for the case be held on a daily basis, even on Saturdays. This was too much for Nawaz's lawyer Khawaja Haris, who recused himself today from fighting the ex-PM's case.
Haris said it was not possible for him to pursue these cases under such pressure.
On Twitter, Nawaz critics say it's a sign of defeat and embarrassment. But supporters say otherwise.
