This recommendation comes from Dawn's editorial today as the country gears up for elections.

Political parties have nominated female candidates for the polls next month, but while some of the numbers might be an improvement as compared to past years, the devil is in the details.

As our editors point out, "Of the 228 women legislators in the national and provincial assemblies, 205 were nominated on reserved seats."

To make women's participation more meaningful and impactful, political parties should support their female candidates in contesting for the seats.
