The heat is still on, but it does not mean we keep on wailing all through the summer. Let’s just forget the heat for a while and bring rainbow on the clouds in our houses. I am sure this will be a welcome gesture and a reminder of the coming monsoon.

Things you need

  1. Seven papers of different colours (choose vibrant ones).

  2. A handful of cotton wool

  3. Scissors

  4. Stapler

  5. Glue

  6. Six beads (preferably, white or silver)

  7. Thread (three pieces, the longest being 12-inch, and the other two 8-inches long).

Directions

  1. Cut all the strips about one-inch wide, as in picture 2.

  2. The first or the longest one will be 30cm long or (the size of an A-4 paper).

  3. Cut rest of the strips from the colourful papers, each strip is 1.5-cm shorter than the previous one, picture 3; (remember our longest one was 30cm).

  4. Stack strips and staple them together at one end, picture 4.

  5. Bring the other end together and staple the strips together, your rainbow is ready, picture 5.

  6. Make some cotton balls to make clouds, picture 6.

  7. Glue the cotton wool at both ends of the rainbow, pictures 7 and 8.

  8. To give a more pleasant look, we will make raindrops. Each is made from three identical pieces of paper. Fold each paper in twos, stack them together and cut them in the shape of raindrops, pictures 9 and 10.

  9. Insert the bead in the longest thread and make a knot at the end to secure the bead, then make another knot in the middle of the thread and insert bead, picture 11.

  10. Take the raindrops, glue two together and put the beaded thread in the middle, then glue the third over it. It will create a 3D effect. See pictures 12 and 13.

  11. Insert the longest thread by making a hole in the bottom centre of the rainbow, and pull it towards the top, pictures 14 and 15.

  12. Take the remaining two thread pieces, make a knot at the end and insert the bead then glue the raindrops, glue these threads to the right and left of the bottom of the rainbow, picture 16.

Your beautiful rainbow on the clouds is ready to be hung anywhere in the house.
