Promising a manifesto "like no other in Pakistan's history", PTI chief Imran Khan kicked off his election campaign on Sunday from Mianwali — the city that got him elected to the National Assembly for the first time in 2002.

The 'captain' brought out all the feels saying that had he not won the seat that year then perhaps the party would have failed to exist.

He spoke of the past government's role in destroying the country's economy, mentioning how promises were made to do away with load-shedding and to make motorways but Pakistan saw no progress.

Taking a jibe at Shahbaz Sharif, Imran Khan made this wisecrack:

Did Shahbaz Sharif take the electricity away with him in a shopping bag?

Talking about Ahsan Iqbal, he said:

He [Ahsan] makes a respectable face and then 'respectfully' lies.

Saying how he had to turn away so many who had the hots for the [party's] ticket, Imran proudly claimed his own family saw no love from him, unlike Zardari and the Sharifs who showered their family members with party tickets.

He also lay into the Sharif family's advertising expenditure [Rs40 billion], terming it the only benefit they had brought the debt-ridden nation.
