HYDERABAD, May 31: The director-general of the HDA and EDO health has issued a fresh water analysis report and reassured people that the water being released by the irrigation department and supplied by WASA HDA to consumers was fit for human consumption and in line with the WHO standards.

They said the test reports of raw water taken from the Indus River upstream and filter water being supplied to consumers recorded electric conductivity at 484 micro simen per centimetre square and 493 micro simen per centimetre square respectively against the WHO specification of 700 micro simen per centimetre square.

They said total dissolved salts (TDS) of raw water and filter water were recorded at 310mg per litre and 316mg per litre respectively against the WHO standard of 500mg per litre.

The officials said the results of the tests indicate that the water being supplied to consumers was fit for human consumption.

LUMHS: A meeting of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences senate has approved the annual budget of Rs218.8 million.

University vice-chancellor Prof Jan Mohammad Memon presided over the meeting.

The budget carried a deficit of Rs51.8 million.

The senate also approved the expenditure incurred during the years 2003, 2004 and 2005.

It approved the performance report presented by the vice chancellor.

RECRUITMENT: The Army Selection and Recruitment Centre, Hyderabad, has announced that the registration and tests for commissioning in the Army through PMA Long course and graduate course would be carried out at NADRA Centres of Hyderabad, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Nawabshah and Larkana.

Candidates having qualifications of intermediate and have passed part I with 60 per cent marks are also eligible to apply for the PMA long course.
