LAKKI MARWAT: The office-bearers of district chapter of Jamaat-i-Islami and its youth wing resigned from their posts on Thursday to protest the decision of parliamentary board of Mutahidda Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) that didn’t award ticket to JI local leader Haji Azizullah Khan for PK-93.

The MMA parliamentary board awarded the ticket for PK-93 to Haji Anwar Hayat Khan, a member of JUI-F. Mr Hayat had also won the seat on JUI-F ticket in 2013 general elections.

The local leaders of JI were hopeful that Haji Azizullah would be considered for the MMA ticket. Mr Azizullah had resigned from the post of tehsil councillor last month to participate in general elections.

The announcement regarding award of ticket to Anwar Hayat sent a wave of resentment among JI activists and office-bearers. A meeting of party was convened at the residence of Haji Azizullah in Naurang town to discuss the issue.

The JI office-bearers, who submitted resignations to their district emir, included Malik Adamsaz Khan, Abdul Ghaffar, Mohammad Younas, Inamullah, Aslam Khan, Mohammad Sohail, Rafiullah and Abdul Razzaq.

JIRGA: The elders of around 24 villages have announced to support ANP leader Humayun Khan Marwat for PK-91 in the coming elections.

The announcement was made at meeting held in Begukhel village on Thursday. ANP district vice president and PK-91 candidate Humayun Marwat was also in the meeting. ANP has not issued ticket to Mr Humayun or any other candidate for PK-91. The elders reposed confidence in Hamayun Marwat and assured him of full support during election campaign.

Mr Humayun said that he was affiliated with ANP and would run his campaign under the banner of the party though he was not awarded ticket for the reasons best known to leadership.
