QUETTA: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) have reached an agreement for a seat-to-seat adjustment on some provincial and National Assembly seats in Lasbela and Turbat after talks between between Asif Ali Zardari and Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

PPP Balochistan President Ali Madad Jattak and Central Information Secretary of BNP-M Agha Hassan Baloch announced this at a joint press conference on Thursday.

After a series of meetings between PPP and BNP-M provincial leaders, a final meeting was held between Mr Zardari and Mr Mengal in Karachi in which a final decision was taken about the seat-to-seat adjustment between the two parties.

They said that the constituencies on which both parties had formed the alliance were NA-272 (Lasbela/Gwadar) and PB-39, PB-50 and PB-51. On PB-51, the PPP would support the BNP-M candidate while BNP-M would back the PPP candidates on PB-39 and PB-50.

Agha Hassan said that his party’s doors were open for all other political parties also for electoral alliance or seat-to-seat adjustment.

He said that political alliance or seat-to-seat adjustment with PPP would yield positive results for Balochistan and its masses.

However, PPP leader Mr Jattak said that the PPP wanted an election alliance with the BNP-M on all NA and provincial assembly seats from Balochistan.
