SHANGLA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) provincial president Amir Muqam has withdrawn his nomination papers from NA-10, Shangla, leaving the constituency to his younger brother, while he (Muqam) would contest the elections from Peshawar and Swat constituencies.

Family sources confirmed here on Saturday that Mr Muqam left the NA-10 seat to his younger brother, Dr Ibadullah Khan.

They said Mr Muqam would contest national seats in Peshawar and Swat.

Meanwhile, on the final day of withdrawal of nomination papers, 21 candidates gave up the contest from Shangla’s NA-10, PK-23, and PK-24. Jamaat-i-Islami candidate from NA-10 Saeed Qasim Shah and Waqif Shah Advocate from PK-23 withdrew in support of MMA candidates.

JUI-F’s Mohammad Zahid Khan also announced withdrawal from the election race in support of MMA after negotiations with the party leaders. He had submitted papers for PK-24, Shangla II. Meanwhile, ANP leader and former candidate in PK-24, Anwar Ali Khan announced electoral support to PML-N in the general elections.

He announced the decision at Puran Aloch where PML-N candidate Fazalullah was also present.
