ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek-i-Nifaz-i-Fiqh-i-Jafria (TNFJ) has criticised the caretaker government for allowing leaders of proscribed groups to contest the elections despite the fact that they are facing terrorism cases across the country, urging the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the matter.

TNFJ head and patron-in-chief of the Supreme Shia Ulema Board Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi said the interim government was issuing clean chits to the leaders of proscribed organisations, which was tantamount to stabbing the National Action Plan and operation Raddul Fasaad in the back. “A heinous conspiracy is being hatched to entangle Pakistan into a civil war. Why is the chief justice not taking any notice of the matter?” he said in a statement.

These groups, he added, received foreign funding and spread hatred among Muslims and were involved in terrorist attacks, including those against the armed forces. He said such proxies of foreign powers were allowed to move about freely in the country and contest the elections.
