KARACHI: The Pirabad police on Tuesday arrested a suspect on a charge of allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in Orangi Town area, said SSP West (Investigation) Zeeshan Shafique Siddiqui.

The suspect was a neighbour of the victim girl.

The police said the girl was playing with other children outside her house on Sunday when the suspect had taken her away and subjected her to criminal assault.

Later on, the suspect managed to escape.

The police registered an FIR (228/2018) under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the girl’s father and arrested the suspect.

Man shot dead

A man was shot dead in Surjani Town late on Monday night, according to police.

They added that Kamran Ali, 44, was riding a motorbike when an unknown suspect attacked him near a mosque in Abdul Raheem Goth. He sustained critical bullet wounds and died on the spot.

Surjani SHO Shakeel Shervani said the victim was a resident of Sector 5-F of Surjani Town.

The police suspected some personal enmity behind the murder.
