We mentioned this in one of our earliest posts. Karachi's NA-247 constituency will hold possibly the most interesting political battle on July 25.

Just look at some of the 41 names the voters will find on the ballot paper:

  1. PTI's Dr Arif Alvi
  2. MQM-(insert faction here)'s Dr Farooq Sattar
  3. MMA old-timer Mohammed Husain Mehanti
  4. PML-N veteran Mushahidullah Khan's son Dr Afnanullah
  5. Formerly of the PTI but presently of the PSP, Fauzia Kasuri
  6. The perennially independent Jibran Nasir
  7. PPP's Abdul Aziz Memon

It's not just that all these are famous or moderately famous names, but each also have at least some reason to be optimistic as well. For instance, Dr Alvi is a former winner; Dr Afnanullah is running perhaps the most active campaign; Jibran can claim that he has the constituency's Pakhtun base backing him; whereas Farooq Sattar, Mehanti and the PPP candidate are all ethnic Memons — of which there are plenty of voters in this constituency.

The battle is mouth-watering and an instant poll to gauge our readers' interest is a must.
