MUZAFFARGARH: The police registered a case against the guard of PPP candidate for NA-186 Daud Jatoi for violating poll codes in Alipur on Wednesday.

District Police Officer Faisal Shehzad said the case was registered against Jatoi’s guard Ghulam Yaseen for brandishing the weapon at a corner meeting.

He said it was against the election codes and the first such case was registered under Act 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code and 20/65 2B 11 Weapon Ordinance with the Alipur Saddar police.

Deputy Commissioner Qaiser Saleem also issued a notice to Mr Jatoi on Wednesday for conducting the meeting without the permission of the assistant commissioner.

He said rallies and processions could be conducted after a permission from the district administration. He said his teams were removing banners and watching candidates’ activities.

Mr Jatoi, however, called the case against his guard as victimization, saying his guard did not violate the poll code.

He said no other candidates were taking permission for rallies but the administration was only after him.
