PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will launch his party’s election campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a public meeting in Dera Ismail Khan on July 8.

He will also address a public meeting in Peshawar on July 12, for which the party has selected three sites, including Jinnah Park, Malik Tehmash Khan Stadium and Arbab Niaz Stadium, but it depends on the approval of the district administration, the party’s women wing provincial president Nighat Orakzai told Dawn here on Wednesday.

She said the PPP chief would also address a public meeting in Malakand district (former Malakand agency) on July 13, wherefrom he is contesting national assembly elections.

The party leaders held a meeting at the residence of former federal minister Arbab Alamgir here on Wednesday to finalise preparations for the Bilawal’s visit.

On the occasion, a committee was formed with Nighat Orakzai as its head to supervise administrative affairs of Bilawal’s public meeting in the provincial capital, while another committee headed by Zahir Ali Shah would focus on publicity, media coverage of the event.

Earlier, at another meeting held at Fishing Hut Chakdara, Sardar Ali Khan was named as convener/in-charge of Bilawal’s visit to KP province. Ms Orakzai said it was yet to be decided if the party chief would travel by road or by air from Peshawar to different areas of the province. However, he will stay at Peshawar till end of his trip to the province, she added.
