ISTANBUL: Turkey will sell four corvette ships to Pakistan Navy, Defence Minister Nurettin Canikli was quoted as saying by state-run Anadolu agency on Thursday.
Turkey said last year it had signed a memorandum of understanding for the sale, and Mr Canikli said the tender was now finalised.
He described it as Turkey’s biggest single military export deal and “a very important day” for the defence industry.

Earlier a power generation ship was lease out to Pakistan, return without service to Karachi. Normally Turkish products are expensive. Let us hope the ships in instant case are in better shape, and serve Pak Navy for its expanding roles in Arabian Sea, and Indian Ocean. Exclusively Pak has the longest coast along Arabian Sea,
and after Gwadar- CPEC joint ventures with China, the Pak Navy horizon of responsibility has widened. Pak Navy can built atleast 10 more Naval Ports along the natural deep sea line. It may buy unspecified numbers of Missile Gun Boats,
to monitor the coastal region, and modern submarines.

If these are new ships to be build for Pakistan Navy, then I hope deal includes involving Pakistani engenieers in designing and construction of these ships. Ideally. 1 or 2 ships should be build in Pakistan.
