LARKANA: Pakistan Peoples Party Sindh chapter president Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said a conspiracy is afoot to keep him away from election and accused his political opponents of being used as tools against him.

Mr Khuhro said at a corner meeting here on Saturday that all such conspiracies would fail since no one could silence people’s voice, which was PPP, “the voice of the voiceless”.

He challenged his opponents to fight him politically instead of using tricks to push him out of the arena.

He said that his daughter Nida Khuhro was contesting PS-11 (Larkana-II) after his nomination papers had been rejected. She was a simple party worker who would inflict defeat on all opponents, he said. Mr Khuhro alleged that Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leaders had allowed those who had been demanding division of Sindh into the alliance and asked how could those who had shaken hand with such “terrorists” be sincere with people of Sindh.

He said without naming anybody that the turncoats who had ditched PPP would start seeing only good in the party once they were offered seats and lucrative ministries.

Mr Khuhro said that those who had been sworn enemies of each other in the past had been drawn together in the alliance but they would part ways the moment they saw defeat in election. People were best judges and they would decide in favour of PPP, he said.

Aseefa launches brother’s poll drive

Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, youngest daughter of slain PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto, launched election campaign for her brother, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, who was a candidate for NA-200 (Larkana-I), and Nida Khuhro, daughter of Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, the party‘s candidate for PS-11 (Larkana-II).

She said at a women’s gathering at the residence of Mr Khuhro late on Friday evening that the present election would be the first for Bilawal and it would turn out to be the last for his opponents. It was only PPP and its leaders who had sacrificed for people and graveyard of Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto bore witness to it, she said.

Nida Khuhro also addressed the gathering.
