ISLAMABAD: The six-member team selected for the WSF World Junior Men’s (Individual & Team) Squash Championship, which will be staged in Chennai from July 18 to 29, has been sent to Karachi for training.

Squash legend Jahangir Khan will supervise the training camp in Karachi, a PSF spokesman said on Monday.

“Jahangir has also been requested by the PSF to give some expert tips to the selected players to make them raise their game level for better performance in Chennai,” said the spokesman.

According to the PSF spokesman, the Indian Embassy earlier had denied visas for Pakistan players. However, he added, the issue has now been settled and the players have been issued visa for the said championship, as Pakistan is the defending champion.

The Pakistan team for the championship comprises Abbas Zeb, Mohammad Uzair, Haris Qasim, Mohammad Farhan Hashmi, Asadullah Khan and Uzair Shoukat.

Manager Munawar Zaman and coaches Fazal Shah and Mohammad Yasin will accompany the team at the training camp.

The spokesman said the selected players have proceeded to Karachi where they would be undergoing training at the Pakistan Navy Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex for a week till their departure to Chennai.

The squad is scheduled to leave Karachi for Chennai on July 14.
