HYDERABAD: Sindh Untied Party has accused Jamshoro deputy commissioner and revenue department officials of being partial to one party and accused two senior police officers of harassing SUP-backed candidates in the constituency of former Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

SUP information secretary Ameer Ali Thebo and Sindh Untied Lawyers Forum president Syed Asadullah Shah said at a press conference here on Monday that government officers and elected local government representatives were openly running election campaign of Pakistan Peoples Party’s candidates Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sikandar Rahupoto, Malik Asad Sikandar and Gianchand Esrani.

They said that Farrukh Bashir, a former SSP of Jamshoro and Imdad Shah, ex-SSP Matiari, were threatening and harassing SUP-backed candidates in Jamshoro.

They said the officers had been especially called for the purpose and expressed the fear that Mr Bashir, who was related to a former Sindh minister, would occupy polling stations on election day to carry out rigging.

They said that Mr Bashir who was also allegedly involved in the murder of an SUP activist, Akhtar Shah, and Imdad Shah were roaming the area in civvies all day.

They said that Jamshoro Deputy Commissioner Shazia Qazi was playing a partisan role in the district despite the fact that the entire administration and police officers had been changed on the directives of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

They said the DC and the revenue department officials were not neutral and demanded action against the officers who were supporting the former CM.
