THIS refers to the article ‘The plot thickens…’ (July 11). Pakistan’s political turmoil has been woven into a plot with attributes of curious timing, long shadows over democratic transition, politically motivated use of untrustworthy agencies, flaws of the justice system perceived as manipulation by the powers to be.

But nothing has been said about protecting the national interests of Pakistan.

APROPOS the article ‘The plot thickens…’ It is a good read overall. But the writer ‘forgot’ to mention that in 2015 Nawaz Sharif was in power.

Why didn’t the government pursue the case against Asif Zardari then? Why did it leave the matter to the caretakers? Why is the investigation into fake bank accounts allegedly owned by Zardari now being dubbed ‘arm-twisting?
