GHALANAI: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq said on Wednesday that July 25 would prove to be a day of accountability for the dishonest and corrupt people.

“The polling day will prove to be a day of accountability for the wrongdoers. We shall start jihad and show our commitment against corruption and injustices through ballot,” he said while addressing a public meeting in Darwazgai area of Safi tehsil on Wednesday. JI provincial chief Senator Mushtaq Ahmad and its candidate for NA-42 Mohammad Saeed also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, when Sirajul Haq was invited to stage for delivering his speech the stage collapsed. As a result, five people were injured. Two injured JI workers were taken to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. Afterwards, Mr Haq told the public meeting that they would bring Islamic revolution in the country from the platform of MMA. He claimed that the religious parties’ alliance would sweep the election.

He said that the people would reject corrupt candidates in the election. He said that the previous rulers had looted the national exchequer and resources and left the people in trouble. Criticising PTI, the Jamaat chief said that the people who brought ‘Kachra’ (garbage) in politics could not make ‘Naya Pakistan’. He said that Saeed Khan of JI was the MMA’s unanimous candidate in Mohmand area.

He said that development of Mohmand region was ignored in the past while its schools and hospitals had been destroyed during militancy and operations. He said that the children of former MNAs were studying in Europe while those of poor tribesmen lacked the facility of primary school in the far-flung areas.

Other JI leaders said that there was still no high school in the Ambar and Khwezai Biazai tehsils. They said that it was a matter of shame for the former MNAs who didn’t resolve the basic issues of the tribesmen.

Mr Saeed said that that if elected he would focus on provision of drinking water, electricity, education and health facilities to the people.
