GWADAR: Balochistan caretaker Chief Minister Allauddin Marri has urged all political parties to strictly follow the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the coming election.

The caretaker government was under obligation to hold transparent and impartial elections in a peaceful atmosphere, he said after a briefing given by the district administration Gwadar on Wednesday.

District Administration officials told the chief minister that all preparations had been finalised, while contingents of Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps (FC) would be deployed at sensitive polling stations to avert any untoward incident.

CM briefed on election arrangements

Meanwhile, elaborate arrangements were in place to provide access to voters to the polling stations, it was further revealed.

The chief minister instructed the district administration to maintain impartiality during elections.

Regarding development schemes initiated in Gwadar and Makran, he ensured that these would be completed on time.

Mr Marri said that the government was working to meet the electricity needs of Makran division while negotiations for restoration of Pasni Power House, Panjgur Power House and connecting Makran with the national grid were under way.

Allauddin Marri was briefed by Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Dostain Jamaldini regarding the port affairs during the former’s visit to the port.

The chief minister said that China was a close friend of Pakistan and the CPEC project would go a long in strengthening economic, energy, agriculture, and manpower ties between the two countries.

During the visit to under construction desalination plant at Gwadar, he was told that the plant on completion would provide 0.3 million gallons of water to the city daily and after its upgradation within six months, it would provide 1.5 million gallons on daily basis.
