LAHORE: Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Syed Ali Zafar says the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a golden opportunity for tackling future economic challenges of economy.

He was speaking at a discussion on ‘Opportunities and Challenges after Elections’ held here on Sunday.

He said population and exports and imports imbalance would be challenges for the next government but suggested that they should evolve a policy keeping in view macro-level economic indicators instead of micro.

Another major challenge, he said, was terrorism and the war on terrorism was still going on in the country.

Replying to a question, the minister opposed abolition of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) law though there were lacunas in it.

He told a questioner that ECP had the authority to restrain banned outfits from taking part in the elections and it had exercised its powers in that regard as well. However, he added, no party could be banned without solid proofs.
