ISLAMABAD, June 4: Pakistan and India would formally start two-day discussions on Iran to India gas pipeline project on the arrival of Indian Oil Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar here on Sunday.

The Indian minister reached Lahore by road on Saturday. He would call on Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and hold a one-to-one meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Amanullah Khan Jadoon.

Later, the two sides will hold technical discussions to be concluded on Monday. The Indian minister would visit Iran to hold similar discussions with his Iranian counterpart. Informed sources said India had proposed to assign the responsibility of pipeline security to the Pakistan Army and this would be main item of discussions during the meeting.
