SWABI: Unidentified assailants shot dead a man and his son inside their house in a pre-dawn attack in Dara Cham area of Shahmansoor on Friday, said police.

It was learnt that the victim, Subhanuddin, who returned from a Middle Eastern country a few weeks ago, along with his wife and young son, Mohammad Salman, was sleeping in the veranda of his house when the assailants sneaked in and opened fire on them.

Registering FIR in Zaida police station, wife of the deceased said they did not have any enmity with anyone. She said the killers scaled the boundary wall and entered the house. She said they were sleeping and woke up when they heard the intruders jumping inside the house. They were wearing masks on their faces, she said, adding the attackers opened fire on her husband and son, killing them on the spot. The attackers escaped after the incident.

The incident enraged the people of the village and they blocked the Swabi-Jehangira road, demanding immediate arrest of the killers.

Later, the protesters dispersed after the police officials assured them of arresting the killers soon.
