Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair announced on Saturday to step down from the post, DawnNewsTV reported.
The Sindh governor said he has sent his resignation to President Mamnoon Hussain approval.
"During my tenure, I fulfilled my duties under the ambit of law," he said.
PML-N leader Zubair was sworn in as the 32nd Governor of Sindh in February, 2017. He was sworn in after the shortest-serving Sindh governor retired justice Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui passed away in January last year.
Zubair, who was chairman of the Privatisation Commission before being appointed to the governor's post, is the brother of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader and MNA-elect Asad Umar.
Prior to serving as chairman of the Privatisation Commission, Zubair was chairman of the Board of Investment from July to December 2013.
From 2012-13, he was a part of the PML-N's Economic, Tax Reforms and Media Committees.
Before working in government, Zubair was employed by IBM, where he held various positions for the duration of his 26-year career until 2007, according to information available on the Privatisation Commission website.

I think Mr Zubair is a principled man. I think Imran should keep him in his government if Mr Zubair wants it. Talented man should not be lost in partisan politics.

Yes please go away. Governor may have a office somewhere, this is Pakistan not British-India, we just cannot afford Governor Houses, CM Houses, B- Houses, and P- Houses.

Honorable decision. He had no reason to hang on to the position in this embarrassing situation for PML-N. Now instead of defending Sharif khandhan in talk shows he should join PTI. His brother will welcome him.

Great decision and an examplary precedent set by the current Govornor of Sindh-Islamic Republic of Pakistan, by tendering his resignation since his political party has lost the recently held 2018 general elections not only at the federal level but also in the province that he was govornoring since last three years or so. Keep it up and hang on tough.

A highly competent person (both be and Asad Umer are IBA graduates and had illustrious careers) and belonging to a very honorable family. Pakistan will hopefully still benefit from him in another way.

I as citizen of Sindh and belong to Karachi I had objection when he tool oath that he is outsider not belong to urdu or Sindhi has been imposed on Sindh, he knows his fate and gone with wind. (example of Rafiq Tarar (Ex President and Nawaz Ex-PM) both belong to punjab that was wrong decision of wrong man, is apply Zubair. Son of Soil formula in Pakistan.
