15 killed, 27 injured in Kohat bus-tanker collision

KOHAT: At least 15 people were killed and 27 others injured as a bus collided with an oil tanker on Indus Highway on Saturday.

The bus was carrying passengers from Buner, Shangla and Mardan to Karachi, while the oil tanker was taking crude oil from Nashpa oil fields in Karak to Attock refinery.

The accident reportedly took place because of speeding by the bus which collided head-on with the tanker while taking a sharp turn.

Rescue 1122 staff reached the scene and pulled out the dead and the injured after cutting the vehicles’ bodies.

The injured were taken to different hospitals.

Some of the deceased were identified as Kul­soom, Gul Rehman, Far­man Ali, Zulqaddah, Sabah Noor Bibi, Sahibzada, Jan Mohammad, Bakht Sher, Wajahat Bibi Shereen, Dil Raam, Osama and Nouman.

The injured included Batoor Amin, Naziya Bibi, Samiullah, Zakirullah, Abid, Abdul Moiz, Amanat Khan, Syed Huzaifa Shah, Khaista Rehman, Ijazullah, Mohammad Khan, Ibrahim, Naseeb Umar, Maqsood Ali, Sahib Rasheed, Hanif Shah, Moaz Khan, Iftikhar, Saiful Islam, Nazir Khan, Zaki, Habib Rehman, Wali Habib, Umair and Kashmal Khan.

The names of other injured could not be ascertained.
