Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Nabil Gabol, after having allegedly manhandled a passenger at Karachi airport, took to social media on Sunday to clarify the circumstances behind the incident.
According to officials at the airport, Gabol and a fellow passenger allegedly used abusive language against each other after which the PPP leader allegedly manhandled the passenger at Jinnah Terminal in Karachi on Sunday.
They added that Gabol and Murad Baloch, a resident of Lyari, arrived at the city's international airport late Saturday night, after having travelled on the same flight from abroad.
The eyewitnesses told Dawn that whilst retrieving his luggage, Murad said to his acquaintance in Balochi whilst gesturing towards Gabol, "Look a thief is standing there."
The alleged adverse remarks infuriated the PPP leader who initially used abusive language against Murad Baloch and later on shoved him.
The video of the passenger being 'manhandled' went viral on social media, however, the airport authorities have not taken notice of the matter thus far.
Malir SSP Munir Ahmed Shaikh told Dawn that no one has approached the airport police for lodging a complaint to this effect.
Besides, a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) official, when inquired regarding the incident, said that the incident did not occur in the jurisdiction of FIA at the airport.
In the wake of social media outcry, Gabol in a video reaction accused the passenger to have been under the influence of ‘alcohol’ and claimed that Baloch had used abusive language against Pakistani politicians at Dubai airport.
Gabol further claimed that at Karachi airport the same passenger used abusive language against him.
The PPP leader admitted shoving the passenger but said that he only did so after the passenger passed adverse remarks against him.

Unfortunately these politicians cannot digest defeats despite the fact that had not deliver to the people of their constituencies and if anyone shows them mirror they manhandled him and later issues clarifications and alleged that the person was intoxicated. Mr Nabeel should ashamed on his act against an innocent passenger as what he did wrong on which you react like this the reality is sore but always a reality and one should learn from his mistakes but in this case he tried to silent the man by power.

Gabol has no right to assault anyone. If the passenger was using abusive language, Gabol could have alerted the security instead of assaulting him. He should be charged with an assault and arrested to send a message to everyone who think they can take the law in their own hands.

Regardless of Gabol's pathetic explanations, he can not be allowed to take law into his own hands .... Why did he not behaved this way at Dubai airport ? Because he knows he will be in jail their for physical assault and he should face the same music here as well.
FIA in charge who said this incident is not in the area should be show caused and dismissed for dereliction of duty and same applies to anyone whoever says that they have not applied the law because nobody has approached or filed complaint.... Video clip is there and nothing else needed to prosecute Taboo for his crime.... Chief must take notice of this lawlessness ....

I hear Pakistani people in America talking against Pakistani politicians all the time. Gabol did not have to confront the other passenger. It reflects badly upon his mentality and wisdom.

Just shows the real face of these "leaders". They cannot handle the truth, or even any criticism. And then they have the courage and audacity to talk about freedom of expression and democracy. If people feel this way about these politicians, their resultant actions, such as what Mr. Gabol has resorted to, will further alienate people and incite more hatred against them. I would like to recall an incident of similar nature that happened to Mr. Hussain Nawaz in London when a man approached him in a market and called Nawaz Sharif a thief, but Hussain Nawaz just smiled and walked away. I am not defending the Sharifs, but that just showed me how a person should behave, even when confronted with abuse.

Politicians are not law enforcers, they cannot manhandle or get involve and shove physically to any citizen. It's the spirit of power which gives them superiority complex and forget , who votes and does not votes for them.

Ridiculous that every department says that it is not in their jurisdiction and they can not do anything because no one complained. What if that man had died??
Police and FIA should have first arrested the one who first attacked the other physically and then it should be investigated. Law must be above all.
Politicans or public figures who have cases against them should have thick skin as people say what they see and read in media.

Thanks for the clarification. However, under no circumstances is pushing allowed unless he attacked you first and your were fighting back as self defense. You should have informed authorities in the correct jurisdiction and allowed them to do their job.

@Zia No one can be charged for assaulting another person unless a official complain is made to police even Verbal or. Unless the person is minor then state can act on its on to arrest the person who assaulted. Abusive language is not a crime but a misdemeanor .
