LAHORE: Syeda Uzma Qadri, the wife of estranged PML-N leader Syed Zaeem Qadri, has been elected to the Punjab Assembly on a reserved seat for women on a PML-N ticket.

Mr Qadri had rebelled against the party before the July 25 polls and contested as an independent candidate for National Assembly’s constituency NA-133 (Lahore-XI) after the party refused him a ticket for the seat.

He had taken the former chief minister’s son head-on alleging that “only servants of Hamza Shahbaz were being given PML-N tickets”. He had lashed out at Hamza saying, “Lahore is not your or your father’s property.”

He had also announced that his wife had decided to withdraw her name from the list of priority candidates for reserved seats given to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) by the PML-N.

However, the list issued by the ECP belies Mr Qadri’s claim, as his wife still figures among those elected to the provincial assembly on a PML-N ticket.

Uzma Qadri remained an MPA in the 2013-18 assembly also.
