HYDERABAD, June 8: Sindh National Labour Federation president Rana Mehmood Ali Khan has said the government has provided no relief to the common man in the budget and protected interests only of the capitalist class and industrialists. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he alleged that the government had once again deceived the working class by giving an impression that minimum wages of workers had been increased to Rs3,000 and pension up to Rs1,000.

He pointed out that salaries of workers already getting more than Rs3,000 per month had not been increased and only a nominal increase had been made in salaries of low-grade employees.

He demanded that members of the National Assembly should ensure that wages of workers were increased by Rs1,500 per month without any discrimination and salaries of government employees were increased commensurate with the increase in prices of consumer goods.

DEMONSTRATION: Activists of the Insan Dost Tehrik held a demonstration and observed a hunger strike outside the press club against Hesco and Wasa.

Speaking on the occasion, Naeem Noorani, Arif Qaimkhani and others held officials of Wasa and the irrigation department responsible for supplying contaminated water to people, causing stomach diseases.
