ISLAMABAD: PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari laid a wreath at the Martyrs of Democracy monument after he took oath as an MNA for the first time in his political career on Monday.

The monument was built on the directives of former Senate chairman and PPP leader Mian Raza Rabbani. It is located outside Gate No.1 of Parliament House.

Dressed in a white shalwar kameez and a blue coat, Mr Bhutto Zardari arrived at the lower house with his father Asif Ali Zardari, who was also sworn in as an MNA, and his sisters Bakhtawar and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari.

After the oath, Mr Bhutto Zardari spent more than half an hour meeting with senior party leaders, after which he visited the monument and offered prayers for those who had sacrificed their lives for the sake of democracy. He left Parliament House to chants of Wazir-i-Azam Bilawal, Jiye Bhutto and Bilawal Zindabad from party supporters.
