SUKKUR: Shahnaz Mirani, a mother of six who was subjected to inhuman treatment allegedly by her husband, Punhal Mirani, succumbed to her injuries at Sukkur Civil Hospital on Monday.

Mubarkan Miran, the woman’s mother, and other close relatives told the media that they had taken her to the hospital in a critical condition after her husband beat her up with an iron rod and caused burns of cigarette on different parts of her body. The couple resided in the Chak City area of Lakhi taluka, Shikarpur district.

Chak City police said a hunt for the absconding suspect was started after registration of his in-laws’ complaint.
