CHITRAL: The wildlife department released an eagle of rare species in Chitral Gol National Park here on Wednesday after recovering the illegally captured bird from a man in Bokhtuli village the other day.

Sub-divisional forest officer of wildlife, Chitral, Iltaf Ali Shah told Dawn that on a tip off, the wildlife officials led by deputy ranger Naseer Ahmed raided the house of Ebadat Shah in Bokhtuli village and recovered the illegally captured Tawny Eagle from his possession.

He said after fulfilling the formalities, the bird was released in the national park area which is best suited to it as the park already supported a fair strength of birds of the genre.

Mr Shah said that the national park was the hub of eagles of many species due to the availability of food in abundance and that their population was growing.

He said the birds flew into the nearby villages from the park while chasing their prey.

The wildlife official said that the person capturing the eagle had been booked under the KP Wildlife and Biodiversity (protection, preservation, conservation and management) Act, 2015, and that the challan would be submitted to the court.
