HYDERABAD, June 9: The Latifabad B-section police on Thursday arrested five people, including a woman for their alleged involvement in incidents of robbery. The Latifabad TPO said Ali, Anwar, Jamal, Aslam Bengali and Noor Jehan, who were arrested in Block-E of Latifabad-9, were found in possession of three pistols, cash and jewellery.

Police said the gang had recently committed a robbery in the house of one Asif Mughal. They said the woman member of the gang played an important role because she used to work in houses and provided information to her accomplices.

Separate FIRs have been registered against the accused.

EXHUMED: The body of a son of the union counci-15 naib nazim was exhumed in the Tando Yousuf graveyard in presence of a judicial magistrate on Thursday to ascertain the cause of his death.

The teenaged boy, Shafqat, son of Zulfikar Baloch, had been found dead near the Shalimar Cinema, on May 2 and his family had expressed doubts that he might had been poisoned to death.

His body was exhumed by a medical board under court directives.

MEETING: A meeting of the general body of the Hyderabad District Bar Association on Thursday condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran by US soldiers. The meeting demanded that those responsible for the incident should be handed over to an Islamic country for their trial under Islamic laws.

It asked the US government to adopt measures for checking such incidents in future.

Association president Bashir Ahmad Gujjar presided over the meeting.
