ISLAMABAD: A veteran of the 1965 war who spent four decades in Indian prisons died at a military hospital in Attock, said the Inter-Services Public Relations on Tuesday.

The military’s public affairs wing said that Sepoy Maqbool Hussain was wounded in the war and taken prisoner by Indian troops. He was set free in 2005 after spending 40 years in Indian prisons.

He was a recipient of the Sitara-i-Juraat. Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed his grief on his death.

Mr Hussain’s funeral prayers will be offered on Wednesday with full military honours.
