ISLAMABAD: A veteran of the 1965 war who spent four decades in Indian prisons died at a military hospital in Attock, said the Inter-Services Public Relations on Tuesday.
The military’s public affairs wing said that Sepoy Maqbool Hussain was wounded in the war and taken prisoner by Indian troops. He was set free in 2005 after spending 40 years in Indian prisons.
He was a recipient of the Sitara-i-Juraat. Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa expressed his grief on his death.
Mr Hussain’s funeral prayers will be offered on Wednesday with full military honours.

Why he was not released when 1965 war ended and the prisoners of both sides were exchanged ? 40 years of his life was taken away
for no reason of his own. Pakistan should have filed a case against India in the international court when he was released in 2005.This is unnbelieveable in this day age.

This is very sad. A wounded pow to spend 40 years lion prison, something is amiss. Unless we are not told about something, what efforts Pakistan made to bring a POW back pet Geneva conventions.
