LAHORE: The family and relatives of a woman who was allegedly killed by husband and her in-laws held a protest against the Raiwind police on the Ferozpur Road.

They blocked the metro bus track, suspending its service for quite hours besides blocking traffic on the road near the Lahore General Hospital.

The relatives of deceased Sonia and people of her area raised slogans against the police for doing nothing before the happening of the incident despite being informed.

They told the media that the in-laws of Sonia, including her husband, burnt her alive in the jurisdiction of Raiwind police. She was rushed to a hospital where she told the police that her husband and in-laws had put her on fire.

A few hours later, Sonia, succumbed to her injuries. The protesters alleged the police had let the suspects escape from the area. They continued agitation for two hours. The police reached the site, assured the protesters justice. At this, they dispersed peacefully.

SHOT DEAD: A man was shot dead by two unidentified armed men in Batapur.

A resident of Jallo Mor Housing Scheme, Haji Khawar, was ambushed by the two motorcyclists at his residence, the police said and added the attackers fled the scene, leaving him in a pool of blood. Hearing the gunshots, his employees alerted the police who rushed him to hospital where Khawar succumbed to his wounds.

The police said Khawar had differences with his wife over some domestic issues and his relatives claimed he might have been killed over the same matter.

The deceased had contacted love marriage a couple of years back.
