TOBA TEK SINGH: A large tanker containing chemical overturned on Toba-Shorkot road on Wednesday near Chuttiana railway station after which the chemical started leaking from the vehicle.

District administration officials, police, civil defence and Rescue 1122 personnel rushed to the site and cordoned off the area.

A Rescue 1122 official said the tanker contained 50,000 litres of a chemical and Rescue 1122 spryaed water on it to prevent it from catching fire.

The tanker was on its way to Faisalabad from Karachi. Its driver was injured and was admitted to the DHQ hospital. Later, the remaining chemical was shifted to another tanker.

PROTEST: Scores of people from across Kamalia city blocked traffic for an hour on Wednesday on Kamalia-Chichawatni road over inflated electricity bills and unscheduled outages.

Protesting near the general bus stand, the locals were carrying their power bills and shouting slogans against the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) and the government.

Aslam, a protester, told reporters that they were facing loadshedding of over eight hours a day, yet the bills sent to them were very high which they were unable to clear.

He urged the prime minister to hold an inquiry against local Fesco officials who were sending them inflated power bills and end loadshedding.
