KOHAT: Two friends going to Punjab province were killed when their motorcycle was hit by an oncoming van near Ghorazai on Rawalpindi Road here on Sunday.

The Gumbat police said that two motorcyclists identified as Nizam Saleem and Mohammad Zafran were returning to their homes in Jand area of Attock district from Kohat when a van struck them. The two were killed on the spot.

The police said that according to the driver of the van, the vehicle went out of his control, causing the accident.

The van driver, Fazal Rehman, resident of Baqizai area of Kohat, ran away from the spot soon after the incident, but was later arrested in an operation by the police and a case was registered against him.

The bodies of the two friends were shifted to the hospital from where they were handed over to relatives after completing the medico-legal procedure. Later, they were taken to their native Jand village of Attock district.
