HYDERABAD, June 12: Personnel of Pakistan Army’s signal core and Rangers took over control of all telephone exchanges and other PTCL installations in Sindh on Saturday night. In Hyderabad, security forces were deployed at all the five telephone exchanges — central, city, Qasimabad, Latifabad and Site — to ensure that no damage was caused to sensitive installations.

Employees said switch rooms at the exchanges have been locked-up where devices were installed regarding telephone numbers. The PCM (pulse code modulation) which deals with microwaves and optical fibre systems has also been locked-up.

The staff has been asked to remain outside installations to perform their duties.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Rangers have taken the control of main digital exchange Moro and other exchanges including Naushahro Feroze, Kandiaro, Mehrabpur, Halani and Phul.

Army officials have been made in-charge of the exchanges.

SANGHAR: All the main telephone exchanges have been put under the army control.

The army experts are sitting besides the PTCL staff at switch room, computers and other vital installations and equipment.

NAWABSHAH: Technical staff of the Pakistan Army got control of the Nawabshah digital telephone exchange on Sunday.

Police and Rangers were already deployed in different exchanges.

SHIKARPUR: A 34-member team of the army personnel including engineers, technicians and security guards was deployed under the supervision of Major Kashif of the Pano Aqil military cantonment to run telecommunication system properly without any interruption.

JACOBABAD: Law enforcement agencies have taken over control of telephone exchanges in the district on Saturday night.
