HYDERABAD, June 13: The director of the Left Bank Canal Area Water Board, Badin, has announced a rotation programme from June 14 to manage water shortage. In a notification issued here on Monday, he said the decision was taken due to short supply of water at the Kotri Barrage.

He said as soon as the situation improved in the Indus River normal supply of water would be restored.

DCO: DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed has directed executing authorities to ensure utilization of all amount released against development schemes of Rs120 million government grant for improvement of water supply system and Rs500 million governor’s package by the end of June 2005.

At a meeting of the HDA here on Monday, he said Rs70 million were released against 28 schemes carried out under Rs120 million package while Rs100 million were released against 60 schemes carried out under Rs500 million governor’s package.

He said of the amount, Rs29.908 million had been utilized with 60 per cent physical progress of Rs120 million package while Rs32.292 million had been utilized from currently released Rs100 million with physical progress of 75 per cent for 45 schemes and 10 per cent for recently tendered 15 schemes.

However, an amount of Rs9.069 million utilized in financial year 2002-03 was not included in this figure, he said.

He called upon officials not to compromise on the quality of work and to ensure that all the schemes were made functional within the stipulated period.

PLEA: Two brothers, Ismail and Aslam, sons of Ahmed Khan Khoso, residents of Abdullah Khoso village, Hyderabad taluka, have appealed to authorities to order the arrest of the murderers of their brother.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Sunday, they demanded that they should be given protection against the accused who was issuing threats of dire consequences to them and their family members.

They alleged that on May 24, their brother Ishaque Khoso was murdered by Ghulam Murtaza Khoso, Ghulam Mohiuddin Khoso and Ghulam Qadir Khoso.

They said an FIR was registered at the Husri police station on the next day but only one accused Ghulam Mohiuddin Khoso was arrested.
