Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and others offered funeral prayers at General Headquarters on Sunday for seven soldiers martyred in an attack in North Waziristan a day earlier, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.
The soldiers were ambushed and came under attack from a compound while an intelligence-based operation in the Ghailani area of North Waziristan was under way. In return fire, the surviving soldiers in the group killed nine attackers.
A group of militants who were reported to have infiltrated from across the border was involved in the attack and apparently hiding in the compound.
The soldiers who embraced martyrdom were identified as Captain Junaid, Havaldar Ameer, Havaldar Asif, Havaldar Naseer, Havaldar Abdul Razzaq, Sepoy Samiullah, and Sepoy Anwar.
Their bodies are being sent to their respective native towns for burial with full military honours.

The army must make every effort, from their huge resources, to compensate the bereaved families - particularly the low ranking soldiers whose perks and privileges are exponentially less than their officers.

The martyrdom of these solders has elevayed them in the ranks of common solders and nation. These solders defend the country with the spirit of brevity fighting till the last drop of blood in their body. Luck are the people and the family who have such heros among them, they are the goldern feather in their family and nation's cap.

Thank you young men for their services to the nation with the ultimate sacrifice. Our political leaders irrespective of political differences must come out of their zones of comfort, give out at least a statement of solidarity with the nation in mourning. They should all also join the funerals and encourage their sons and daughters to join the noble cause of defense of the nation. This is a joint and collective responsibility of all of the nation and not a few. Everyone irrespective differences of religious, political, ethnic, language and place of origin must come together at such a time.

Thanks for your service to the nation my brother's.
Curious, will their families receive any compensation or pension as it looks like they were the sole bread winners for theirs. Hope the widows and children are taken care of all the brothers who lay their lives for our safety.
