FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad pool rounds of the 14th Dawn In Education Spelling Bee Competition concluded here on Thursday at the Iqbal Auditorium of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad.

In the age group of 9-11 years, Momina Rehman of Learning Alliance of Canal Road bagged first and Abeera Haider and Abdullah Salman of First Step School of Arts and Sciences, Senior Campus, Sheikhupura Road, got second and third positions, respectively.

Hamna Sajid of the Kohinoor Grammar School clinched the first position in the age group of 12-14. Aliza Kashif and Nehal Farhan of First Step School of Arts and Sciences, Senior Campus, Sabina Town, remained second and third, respectively.

In the age group of 15-17 years, Umar Mukhtar and Muzaina Amir of Learning Alliance, Canal Road, remained first and second, respectively, while Zainab Shakeel of Beaconhouse School System, Canal Road, secured the third position.

Pronouncer of the event was Tanwir Shah while Dr Aleem Shakir, Iram Parveen, Ansa Sattar, Aisha Zulfiqar Chaudhry, Gul Sana and Amara Javed were the judges.

Rabeea Salman was the Dawn moderator.

UAF Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Zafar Iqbal, being the chief guest, distributed certificates among the participating students. He spoke about the importance of reading and lauded Dawn’s efforts on conducting the spelling bee to foster a love for reading among the children.
