KARACHI: The dedication ceremony of the Dhanani School of Science & Engineering (DSSE) of Habib University was held on the university premises here on Saturday.

Habib University, which officially joined hands with the Dhanani Group of Texas, USA through an MoU signing ceremony back in May, was gifted a substantial monetary endowment for its School of Science and Engineering by the group after which the school has been renamed as the Dhanani School of Science and Engineering. The dedication ceremony had president of Habib University Wasif Rizvi give a short presentation.

“Habib University is by far the most generous university in the world,” Rizvi said, while acknowledging the generosity of two of Habib University’s most prominent supporters Nargis Soorty and Shahbaz Yasin Malik.

Shoukat Dhanani of Dhanani Group then spoke about how there needed to be more emphasis on education in Pakistan. “Pakistanis are the most generous people across the globe but what can truly advance Pakistan is investing in the youth of this country. DSSE is a first step in our relationship with HU and we hope it will evolve into a lifelong commitment,” he said.

Earlier, Fatin Nawaz, an alumnus, who graduated with a bachelor’s in computer science from the HU in May shared her experiences at the university with the audience.
